  • CALL FOR PANELISTS: CAH seeks grant review panelists to perform evaluations of applications submitted to the agency for funding consideration throughout the year. Panelists are integral to the grantmaking process.

Panels provide a critical review, comments, and scores of all applications to a particular grant program.

Complete details at dcarts.dc.gov or via our LinkTree in our bio!

  • A #ThrowbackThursday post to last month, when some of our Fellowship Grantees met up at A Not At All Creative Kickback at @EatonWorkshop, along with a staff member who was tabling the event, as part of a pilot initiative with the event series.

As part of the program, they’ll be able to attend events throughout the calendar year to build connections and spark creativity.

This pilot, along with our Works in Progress sessions, is just one way we've been exploring how we support individual artists through the Fellowship program this year. #DCArtists #DCCreatives

And a reminder that if you'd like us to table an event in your community, to email us at cah@dc.gov.

  • Join Us for 'Behind the Uniform's Opening Reception
    Thursday, April 10th
    6 pm - 8 pm

DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities (CAH)
    200 I (Eye) Street SE
    Washington, DC 20003

An exhibition featuring artwork by 124 U.S. Veterans, service members, and family and caregivers, "Behind the Uniform" honors those who make or have made the choice to serve and wear this Nation’s uniform.

Uniforms have unique stories embedded in them. The artworks represent and overlap three categories of artistic identity: those who are practicing artists, an evolving and thriving community of local and national artists, and those who use art as their therapeutic process.

The exhibition intentionally presents the artists on equal footing, making no distinction between the artists’ levels of training or experience, presenting a counterpoint to the complex hierarchy that military uniforms express.

This exhibition is the second of three exhibitions in 2025 funded by the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities’ Art Exhibition Grant program and is curated by Kasse Andrews-Weller and Moira McGuire.
