The New Year is a time to reflect and look ahead to all that is possible.
As we look back on 2022, we are so proud of all we accomplished. We provided significant support to individuals and organizations working in the arts and cultural sector. As the pandemic persisted, we delivered essential funding. We also invested in many first-time grants recipients, and partnered with other District agencies to help bolster DC’s creative economy.
We continued to advance our mission to effectively reach more individuals and organizations in every ward of our city.
We welcomed strong support from Mayor Bowser and the DC Council and were so pleased that the Mayor, Deputy Mayor Falcicchio, and members of the DC Council attended the Commission’s monthly business meeting on September 30, 2022. We understand that we will be most effective if we work together with all city leaders to best serve District residents.
In 2023, we are focused on finding ways to make our grants and the application process more accessible to individuals and smaller organizations. We’re exploring ways to expand our support of Art All Night DC so that it is a signature event worthy of national–and international–recognition. We will do this work as we continue to improve the grant process, expand access to grants and strengthen communication and marketing to all artists across our city.
All of this success has been possible due to the effort and expertise of our CAH staff and Commissioners. As we continue to find ways to more fully collaborate, we are confident that 2023 will be an important and transformative year for CAH.
In the coming year, we have the ability to make an even greater impact to improve our city’s vibrant art scene, while investing even more optimally in our arts community.
Wishing you health and happiness in the New Year.
