The members of the Commission on the Arts and Humanities are District residents appointed by the Mayor, with the advice and consent of the Council of the District of Columbia, who have a displayed interest or ability in the arts and humanities or have been active in the furtherance of the arts and humanities in the District of Columbia. Commissioners are appointed to three-year terms and serve without compensation. Commissioners have regular public meetings almost monthly.
