General Terms Used:
Artist:
- An individual who creates or performs, on an ongoing basis, works of art within an artistic discipline and pursues it as a means of livelihood or for the highest level of professional recognition
- A person who has received training in an artistic discipline or tradition, and/or self-identifies as professional artist, meaning that they attempt to derive income from work in which they use their expert artistic practices and skills. This includes beginning/amateur artists, such as students, not yet seriously committed to the discipline
Artist Team: Two individual artists working together with one identified as the lead artist
Agency Fiscal Officers: The chief financial officer’s (CFO) key representatives in District agencies who manage non-programmatic aspects of agency financial operations.
Individual: An applicant who submits applications on their own behalf. Individuals sign the grant application and associate documents that are necessary to fulfill the requirements of the application process.
Lead artist: Artist completing the application who must meet all eligibility requirements
Organization/Arts Organization: An entity that has the creation and/or presentation of the arts as its core mission and that fulfills its mission by providing public access to arts programming.
