In observance of Black History Month, CAH, the Congressional Black Associates (CBA) & National Action Network (NAN) are partnering with Horton’s Kids to read books on African American history, specifically books that have been included in the National Banned Books list.
Mahogany Book Store will be a supporter of this event as we’d like to do a book drive at the end, along with food or snacks for the children and volunteers.
We are aiming to serve 50 children and would like to collect 50-100 books to donate as a way to promote reading and further educate them about the significance of black history month. (Volunteers will register ahead of time and select a preference in checking in guests, wayfinding, floating, or reading to youth.)
