Q: I wanted to ask if this site which is in a historic district could potentially work for a Public Art Building Communities proposal, and if there are any constraints I should know about.
A: In the RFA there is a tool called Property Quest. It will give you basic information about your site and give you the site owner of the property. https://propertyquest.dc.gov/
Property Quest will give you some of the information to determine if your site will work for you and then you can follow-up with the owner and community. It’s up to an artist/applicant to determine if their site can work. It will be up to you in your narrative to explain why this site or any site you select is a good/great space for public art.
As a staff person, it’s hard for me to give you insight on any location because organizations and artists do the research on their site to pick a location; due to the many complex Public Art issues that can make a site work.
As you reach out to the community and gather information the pros and cons of a site will become apparent.
You can reach out to the Historic Preservation contact from the RFA and ask about any Historic conditions/restrictions on the site.
Q: Who is the DDOT contact?
A: The DDOT permit verification letter contact is both Walter K. Graham, [email protected] and Kimberly Vacca (DDOT) [email protected]. Please email both.
