Job Summary
The position is located in the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities (DCCAH). The mission of the DCCAH is to provide grants, programs and educational activities that encourage diverse artistic expressions and learning opportunities, so that all District of Columbia residents and visitors can experience the rich culture of our city.
The Equity, Diversity & Inclusion Officer exercises broad direction over implementing, guiding, and spearheading equity objectives across the agency, providing leadership and vision to ensure the development and management of innovative and effective strategies to achieve racial equity for employees and residents.
Duties and Responsibilities
Works throughout the agency to ensure various programs are being inclusive, project distribution is equitable, fair, and inclusive. Develops and creates awareness and understanding in the use of an equity lens to implement programs and practices. Creates an infrastructure to implement the District-wide Racial Equity Plans and other related plans.
Provides leadership, guidance, and support to internal and external partners in the development and delivery of equity programs and tools; and develops work plans and training materials. Builds an effective and strong working relationship, partnership, and network with minority communities, and the organizations that serve these communities. Identify, recognize, and acknowledges existing cultural and racial "blind spots" and provides solutions to assist in addressing them.
Interfaces with the Agency's personnel liaison on a variety of issues and participates in the resolution of complex personnel management and operational problems to enhance the Equal Opportunity Program. Serves as agency representative at designated meetings, conferences and other events to provide, obtain, exchange and clarify the Agency's status on equal employment opportunity program initiatives, issues, policies and mandates.
Qualifications and Education
Applicants must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the grade 13 level. Specialized experience is experience which is in or directly related to the line of work of the position and has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position.
Specialized Experience: Knowledge of Diversity and Inclusion related best practices to develop and/or implement programs, education and training plans, and curriculum.

Residency Statement: If the position you are applying for is in the Career, Management Supervisory, or Educational Service at an annual salary of one hundred fifty thousand dollars ($150,000) or more, you must establish residency in the District of Columbia within one hundred eighty (180) days of the effective date of the appointment and continue to maintain residency within the District of Columbia throughout the duration of the appointment.
