Artist Statement:
I am a multidisciplinary artist who has been working and living in Washington DC since 2008. I work primarily in painting, sculpture and public art, but I also have experience in traditional animation, performance, printmaking, fashion/textiles, video and installation art.
My work focuses on narratives containing demonstrations of defiance powered by the harnessing of one’s otherness. I aim to explore the discord of modern life, identity and technology as they intersect with the individual. I am concerned with expanding and unpacking subjects that have been flattened by society for capitalistic convenience – with a particular focus on creating narratives outside of the male gaze that prioritize intersectional feminism. My goal is to question the conflict that arises from being subjected to externally fabricated versions of ones self that are ultimately false, increasingly derived from technology and formed by preconceived notions of gender, race and class. My public art celebrates the specific as it relates to individuals who are often underrepresented, and celebrates the universal desire for individuality and self expression.Contact Information:
