As stewards of the arts in Washington, DC, we take our roles and responsibilities very seriously. One of the most important duties we have is to operate transparently, in fulfilling our mission, thanks to our staff and Commissioners at the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities.
CAH Commissioners are volunteers appointed by the Mayor, with the advice and consent of the Council of the District of Columbia. The agenda for each regular monthly Commission meeting is available online at least 2 days prior. Meeting minutes are normally available on our website within three business days following the meeting of the Full Commission, along with a recording of the meeting. (Please note that due to the current COVID-19 public health emergency, this schedule/timeframe is tolled, in accordance with the Open Meetings Act, DC Official Code § 2–578.(a)(3). We will continue to make every effort to be as timely as possible).
Commission meetings are held in open session and members of the public are welcome to attend and observe. Those wishing to address the Commission, including individuals and organization representatives, may request three minutes to speak during the public comment period held at each meeting (requests must be made at least 24 hours in advance of the meeting); speakers will be scheduled on a first come, first served basis. Written comments may also be submitted as an alternative or in addition to spoken comments.
For requests and inquiries related to Commission meetings, including requests to make remarks at public comment periods, and media inquiries, please email Jeffrey Scott, Chief of Staff.
We are dedicated to serving the DC community and keeping you informed and engaged, as we cannot fulfill our mission without your input and support. We appreciate you taking the time to keep up with our efforts, and please do not hesitate to be in touch should you have any comments or questions, as you view the documents below.
