The DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities (DCCAH) extends its condolences to the family and friends of Rita Jackson, founder of Northeast Performing Arts Group (NEPAG), who passed away January 9, 2016.
Ms. Jackson founded NEPAG in 1979 to provide performing and visual arts opportunities for young people in the DC Metro area, with a particular focus on East of the River communities. The organization has been the recipient of multiple DCCAH grants over the years.
“Rita Jackson’s work in arts education is a prime example of the positive impact the arts can have in a young person’s life,” said Arthur Espinoza, Jr., Executive Director of the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities. “We celebrate her legacy and the impact she has made on our city.”
