The DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities is proud to announce the finalists for the 27th Annual Larry Neal Writing Competition. This year's awards ceremony will take place on Friday, May 7, 2010 at 6 pm at the Folger Shakespeare Library, Elizabethan Hall. The Awards ceremony is the culminating event for the competition, which is open to emerging and professional writers of all ages residing in the District of Columbia. The ceremony is presented in partnership with the PEN/Faulkner Foundation. The event is free and open to the public.
The DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities and members of the public will be joined by writer and lecturer Marita Golden, as Mistress of Ceremonies. Special guest and remarks will be given by Sherman Alexie, winner of the 2010 PEN/Faulkner Award for Fiction.
