Pioneering local musician passed away November 26

The DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities (DCCAH) remembers local musician Reggie “Polo” Burwell, who passed away Tuesday, November 26. Burwell was the lead vocalist for the go-go group TCB.

“Burwell and TCB brought go-go to a new generation of listeners,” said Lionell Thomas, Executive Director of DCCAH. “The Commission extends our sympathies to Burwell’s family and all of his fans. Go-go is a musical style distinct to Washington, and we celebrate his contributions as one of its leading artists.”

Arrangements for a public funeral are being made and will be announced by TCB.
