The Black L.U.V. (love, unity & vision) Festival was established, in 1997, by artists in the historic U-street community devoted to social change and uplift of the DC creative community. This FREE one-day cultural outdoor event, uses the cultural arts as a vehicle to inform and enlighten communities of the Nation’s Capital on education, social injustice, healthcare (testing attendees for HIV/AIDS) and issues in underserved communities and neighborhoods, domestically and internationally. @DCculture #A4ADC

SW ArtsFest, September 28

SW ArtsFest is one of the Washington, DC area’s largest neighborhood arts festivals by size in one of its smallest quadrants. Each year this free festival brings new artists, more children-focused activities, and a broader array of interactive events for all ages. Events in 2013 include the return of the popular sock puppet studio, the Festival of Decorated Bikes: A Rolling Art Parade, and the Jazz Preservation Festival. In addition, new events will include special performances by poets and hip hop artists, including POEM-CEES and artist EVG. @swdcartsfest @DCculture #A4ADC

AdamsMorgan PorchFest, October 5

PorchFest celebrates local talent by turning the front stoops and porches of several Adams Morgan homes into performance spaces where local musicians will play for the community — for free! The sounds will be spread throughout the residential side streets of the neighborhood, making the stunning architecture the backdrop as you follow your ears from house to house.
