In its 8th year, The J Dilla Tribute & Fundraiser aka DC Loves Dilla honors the late, great producer and beatsmith, James Dewitt Yancey. Each year, members of Dilla’s musical family, alongside amazing artists weave their lyrical offerings within Dilla production - performed by ensemble, Jon Laine & The Players. Dilla's production work ranged from Slum Village, A Tribe Called Quest, De La Soul, The Roots, Common, Busta Rhymes, Erykah Badu, Mos Def, Janet Jackson to the Brand New Heavies and without question, continues to influence music to this day.

Since Dilla's untimely passing in 2006, this special celebration has attracted thousands of patrons at every major venue. It has also featured over 65 performers including The Pharcyde, Robert Glasper, Slum Village, Talib Kweli, Dwele, Pete Rock [Live XM Satellite], Phife Dawg [A Tribe Called Quest]. Area faves include Raheem Devaughn, Asheru, Oddissee, Yahzarah, Wes Felton, Kev Brown. Can't forget Ma Dukes.

Proceeds benefit the The J Dilla Foundation and The Lupus Foundation of Greater Washington, DC. - See more at: http://thehowardtheatre.com/show/2013/07/10/dc-loves-dilla-tribute-concert/#sthash.2mKs1VXX.dpuf
