Arts Learning and Outreach: Superintendent's Award for Outstanding Arts Teacher

The aim of this award is to encourage excellence and creativity in teaching the arts in the DC Public Schools (DCPS) and Public Charter Schools (PCS) and to recognize K-12 teachers who have demonstrated outstanding leadership in enhancing the quality of art education for children and youth in the District of Columbia.

Arts teachers in all arts disciplines (visual arts, music, theater, dance or humanities-based) may be nominated by school principals, arts content specialists, arts organizations or arts supervisors. Three awards, for elementary school, middle school, and high school levels, are given. An individual may submit only one nomination. The award carries a $500 stipend that is to be used for special arts projects benefiting the award recipient's class and school.  The awardees are honored as part of the Annual Mayor's Arts Awards.

The application has already passed for 2008.

For more information, email Joe Angel Babb or call (202) 724-5613.
