Executive Director's Letter
Greetings as we celebrate 40 years of the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities. This website helps the District of Columbia Government to serve its residents’ arts and humanities needs by offering resources for grant opportunities and information on arts programs and events in the District. We welcome your support and input as we continuously look for new and innovative ways to share arts experiences, whether it’s in the classroom through our Arts Education Projects grants or public displays of artistry through DC Creates Public Art projects.
Since September of 2008 I have been pleased to help further Mayor Adrian Fenty's vision of Washington, DC as a world class cultural destination. As the official arts agency of the District of Columbia, we continue to evolve through exciting new programs and activities. Washington, DC, boasts a thriving and bountiful community, one that is as diverse in its cultures as it is in its artistic expressions. Poets, filmmakers, photographers, dancers, painters, musicians and many others have made DC their home and contribute to the cultural vitality of its many communities. Every year brings new opportunities to extend art, music, dance, theatre and the humanities to every District of Columbia resident.
We invite you to become engaged by subscribing to our ArtsNewsLetter to stay connected to the numerous artistic treasures of our great city.
Yours in art,
Gloria Nauden Executive Director DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities 1371 Harvard Street, NW Washington, DC 20009
