Fete De La Musique DC

The Fete de la Musique DC offers free concerts for the public throughout the District in the summer time. You may view the **Fete de la Musique video for a look at some of last year's festivities.

Venues interested in participating should view the Fete's International Declaration of Principles to learn more about the festival's international guidelines for participation. If you are interested in booking musicians for a Fete performance or for performances in general, please check out the *Fete Guide to Metropolitan Area Musicians.

In 2004, a Sidewalk Musician's Slam Competition let the public vote via email to decide who was DC's best street musician.  The 2004 winner was trumpeter Mario Murray. The winning musician was awarded time in a professional studio at Three Key Music to record a CD that will be launched at a future CD release party.

Fete de la Musique originated in France in 1982 and has expanded to include more than 100 countries. Throughout the world, the priority is to expose listeners to a wide variety of musical styles and traditions by making it free and accessible to all.  Please visit the official French website for Fete de la Musique to learn more. Choose the icon at the top of the page that says International. Then select English as the version you wish to read. For information on the Fete de la Musique in Manila, visit Fete Manila.
