Mayor Williams Honors DC Artists at the Kennedy Center
 
(Washington, DC) The stars of the District of Columbia arts and cultural community will be honored at the 21st Annual Mayor's Arts Awards Gala on Monday, January 9, 2006 at 6 pm at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in the Concert Hall. The ceremony will feature award presentations by members of the city's cultural community as well as live dance, music and poetry performances. The ceremony is free and open to the public, but reservations are a must.
 
“The city is home to some of the finest artists and arts programs in the country," said Tony Gittens, Executive Director of the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities. "DC's arts scene, in terms of excellence and diversity, is on par with that of other major US cities."
