Dance to the Beat of Many Cultures at Free DC Folk Dance Festival
 
(Washington, DC) From Friday, September 29 to Sunday, October 1, the DC Commission on the Arts & Humanities will celebrate the vitality of the folk and traditional dance community in the city and introduce dance lovers to distinctive and culturally diverse forms of dance. Venues around the city will be hubs of dance activity and feature free performances and interactive workshops in styles that will include African, Bhangra, Capoeira, Flamenco, Hip-Hop, Tango and Ribbon Dancing. The three-day festival is free and open to the public.
 
“Every ethnic community has dance styles that celebrate tradition, joys and aspirations,” said Anthony Gittens, Executive Director of the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities. "Dance DC is a showcase of the incredible talent and diversity that surrounds us."

Free festival of dance featuring performances and interactive workshops in styles that will include flamenco, capoeria, Hip-Hop, hand dancing and Bhangra.

Friday, September 29-Sunday, October 1 
The free festival kicks off on Friday at 4 pm at the Patricia Sitar Center in Adams Morgan with a workshop on Capoeria and Hip-Hop. Showtimes vary throughout the week. 
Where:
The festival kicks off at the Patricia Sitar Center in Adams Morgan. Festivities will continue that evening at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts at 6 pm. 
 
The rest of the performance locations vary throughout the week based on each show.
